La Playa

11 days left in Costa Rica. Crazy.

We went to the beach for the first time the other day. The beach was in Dominical. Dominical definitely caters towards the rich American tourists. Not really the type of scene that Lydia and I enjoy, but it was still beautiful. We all didn´t want to spend the money on a hotel or hostel so we just pitched a tent. Running around in the waves, chasing crabs, and watching the sunset made were all enjoyable. Going to the beach was really good for us. Having a few days away from the farm made us much more appreciative of our remaining time here. The sun wasn´t too bright during the afternoon so our tans still are not impressive. For all of you expecting me to have a great tan when I get back... Don´t get your hopes up. I will disappoint you.

I lost my debit card the other day. Not a good situation, but my parents cancelled my card so that no one else can have too much fun with the money in my account.

Lydia and I were talking the other day about all of the habits that we are going to have a hard time breaking when we get back. I´m going to have habits of eating 3 avocados a day, not showering very often, looking in the trees for sloths, and kissing people on the cheek when I greet them.

We are both feeling at peace with the amount of time we have here. This next week we are just going to really try and make the most of our time left with the family and the friends that we have made here.

Here are some more videos with the animals that I didn´t have the chance to upload last week.

Crazy fruit. I can´t remember the name of these.

While Lydia and I were sitting by the river the other day we heard a rustle in the tree. We looked up to discover a four-eyed possum creeping on us.

The first sloth I´ve seen in the wild.

Another crazy fruit that I can´t remember the name of. You only eat the white fuzzy stuff on the outside. It sort of feels like you´re eating cotton or a cacoon or something.

My typical hairstyle here.

The colors on this flower are not enhanced at all.

I will be sad to leave Costa Rica, but I can´t wait to be able to communicate with all of you without the internet involved.
